About Marie

Marie Watts Barclay began writing as soon as she could pick up a pen. For as long as she can remember, she has wanted to be a writer and has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of great suspense and horror writers, such as Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Although full of ideas, The First Book of Avnas is Marie's first novel. The idea came to her while attending church camp throughout her childhood, and she knew at the age of 15 how desperately she wanted to write it.

She is married with three children and currently lives in Georgia, but hails from California and Indiana. As a military brat, she moved around a little bit as a child and has had a hard time finding anywhere that she considers home. Although having had children early in life, she's never faltered in her quest to finish college and become a professional writer. Halfway through school, she has an Associate degree in General Education from Ivy Tech State College and has complete the requirements for a Bachelors in History from Ashford University. She is currently taking classes for a double major in finance, along with a minor in international management. Writing is  her passion, and she hopes to give people the same sense of awe and excitement in her stories as she has always got from others growing up.
